Calum Nicholas: There is some swearing in the boxes at times

Mechanic Red Bull Racing Calum Nicholas believes that the racers do not have to be role models for young spectators, and parents themselves should teach their children what language is appropriate or inappropriate in certain situations.

Calum Nicholas: "We hear the racers on the radio, in the heat of battle they sometimes use very vivid expressions, but it is difficult to imagine that the mechanics in the boxes will complain about swear words - it is not in the nature of people who work in our sport. In the boxes sometimes sound swear words, and it is normal - we work under stress. But all these phrases are not said to insult or offend anyone. I once said that when people in the boxes use emotional words, they smile. I have a six-year-old daughter, and I tell her: "Listen, there are words that are appropriate in some situations and inappropriate in others. People often say about riders, 'They're stars, they should be role models,' but I think the responsibility lies with me. It is up to me to teach my child what is appropriate and in what situation. Every parent has to take that responsibility and not expect someone else to be your role model."
