Kimi Antonelli: I have full confidence in the team

      In an interview with the team's press office, Mercedes debutant Andrea Kimi Antonelli spoke about expectations for the upcoming season... Kimi Antonelli: "I remember when Toto Wolff called me into his office and asked: "Are you ready to get behind the wheel of Formula 1?" At that moment I was speechless for a while. I have known Toto since 2018, we have a very good relationship. He has always tried to teach me and guide me in the right direction. At Christmas I had a good rest, I spent time with my family, which is important, because after the start of the season we will be able to see each other much less often. My dad will come to all the races, but my mom, sister, aunt and grandmother will not be able to do that. So it was very nice to relax at home with them and prepare for the holiday together. In January I went to training camp a couple of times, one of them was on Lanzarote Island. It's a very beautiful place. It was my first time there and the center where I stayed had everything I needed for training and preparation. The weather was good, there were places to take a breather in the evening, but I trained very hard. I recently visited the headquarters of our new partners from Adidas. It's really cool there. I'd love to go back there with the team - there's so much to see. We tried some of the new products and apparel, they gave me a padel tennis racquet. There's a lot of cool stuff out there. Tennis sneakers, cycling sneakers that I wore while training in Lanzarote, a jersey with my name on it. I was very happy when I first saw it and I wore it on every trip. I'm making my debut with an experienced and strong team and I hope to learn a lot from them and make the most of it. I have full confidence in the team. It's not every day that you get a chance to race like this. It's a great honor. I'm very happy to be racing with George. He's already shown what he can do. We also have Valtteri and his experience. I'm really looking forward to learning from both of them. They can both push me to develop further.
