F2: Mini fastest on second day of tests
The second day of pre-season testing in Barcelona has ended. The best time was shown by Gabriele Mini, who completed a lap in the morning session in 1:23.660 seconds.
In the morning, the racers started working on long series of laps, but at the end of the first hour they switched to soft tires and worked with empty tanks. The riders alternated between each other on the first line until the best time was left for the Italian racer Prema.
The session was full of red flags. The first stop occurred half an hour after the start due to Max Esterson's departure at the second corner. For the second time, red flags appeared when there were 90 minutes left in the session – Arvid Lindblad got stuck in the gravel at turn seven.
Later, red flags appeared due to the departure of Leonardo Fornaroli in the fifth corner and Jack Crawford in the last. The final red flags appeared immediately after the checkered flag due to John Bennett's stop at the second corner. Despite the departure, Fornaroli drove the longest distance – 39 laps.
The riders started the afternoon session with a series of short laps, in which Oliver Goethe was the fastest with 1:24.372 seconds. After that, most of the riders switched to running long series of laps, so the times didn't change much.
The session had to be interrupted with red flags so that the marshals could remove debris from the trajectory at the last turn. For the second time, red flags appeared twenty minutes before the end of the session due to Sami Megetunif's stop on the main straight. Ritomo Miata and Victor Martin drove the longest distance, with 75 laps each.
The final day of Formula 2 pre-season testing will be held in Barcelona on Wednesday.
