Oliver Oakes: I have a pragmatic mindset.
Oliver Oakes, head of Alpine F1, admits that it will not be possible to catch up with the leaders this season, and he sets the team no different tasks. It is not forbidden to dream of high results, but for now we just need to continue the work that started in 2024.
Oliver Oakes: "This year we want to continue working from the level we reached at the end of last season. In Brazil, both of our riders reached the podium, but actually in Qatar and Abu Dhabi we fought with the teams of the first part of the middle of the peloton, and that's not bad either.
But I must remain realistic: it will be difficult to catch up with the leaders in 2025. Under the current technical regulations, some other teams are setting the tone; McLaren made a real leap, and before that it was possible to talk about the progress of Aston Martin, although then it rolled back again.
We always hope for the best, we hope that we can reduce the gap somewhat, but I have a more pragmatic attitude: first of all, we need to build a good car.
I won't say that the team found itself in a dramatic situation at the beginning of last year, but there were reasons for frustration, which caused us to waste our reserve strength to some extent. After that, we had to work hard to win back, and now it's important to continue what we started. The priority is to keep pushing so that the start of this season is more successful.…
There were all kinds of conversations and rumors about our team, which also didn't help matters, but I'm pleased to see that we now have a very cohesive team, and regardless of what happens, everyone remains highly motivated."
