The World Council approved two pit stops in Monaco

Today, the first meeting of the FIA World Council in 2025 took place, at which a number of previously adopted decisions were officially approved. In particular, the Formula 1 Commission has accepted the proposal to hold two mandatory pit stops at the Monaco Grand Prix. The requirement applies both to racing on a dry track and in rain conditions.

It is mandatory to use at least three sets of tires during the Monaco race this year. If the race is held on a dry track, it is necessary to use at least two different compositions of slicks. It is expected that the adopted innovation will enhance the entertainment on the track, which traditionally has few overtaking.

In addition, the World Council has approved a number of calendars for the 2025 season, including the calendars of Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3, Formula E and other series. No changes have been made to previously published versions, so today's approval has become a mere formality.

The next meeting of the World Council will be held on June 10 in Macau, on October 16 the meeting will be virtual, and the final FIA General Assembly of the year is scheduled for December 10 and will be held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. The awarding of champions at the end of the season will also take place there.
