Carlos Sainz was the fastest on the second day of testing

There's not a day without a hitch in the Bahrain tests. Last year's problems with the drainage wells were left behind – they were concreted, but yesterday the electricity went out for an hour at the circuit, and today the teams who chose Bahrain because of the comfortable weather lost time due to rain.

No one expected precipitation in Bahrain, the intermediate tires were pre–ordered only from Haas F1 - and Esteban Ocon drove them for several laps while the others were holed up in the pits. Unlike yesterday, no one began to compensate for this time – everything was attributed to the elements. The weather is unpredictable even in Bahrain.

The second day of testing confirmed the trend – the new cars are fast, reliable, and the balance of power is almost the same as last year. By last year, according to the current regulations, the teams had maximized the potential of the cars and were actively testing flexible aerodynamic elements and other semi-legal solutions in an attempt to gain an advantage at least in the spring, while they are not prohibited. Starting a season of five races in six weeks can decide a lot.

On the second day, the drivers attacked much more boldly, everyone simulated qualifying and racing, and for Liam Lawson and Carlos Sainz, this was the last day of testing – tomorrow the team-mates will work with the car.

The first incident of the new season also occurred – in the eighth corner, Piastri and Hulkenberg did not share the track, touching the wheels – the Sauber driver was in front, but Oscar decided to get ahead of him, and when Nico entered the corner, he could not brake and hit the back of the rival's car. I had to go to the pits to replace the damaged parts.

Red Bull Racing ended the morning session ahead of schedule due to a loss of pressure in the cooling system, but after lunch Lawson compensated for the loss of time. The next time he gets behind the wheel is in two weeks in Melbourne.

Sainz spun in the first corner, Duane blocked the tires in the fourth, and Leclair did not avoid a U-turn on the wet track. Haas F1 rookie Oliver Berman damaged the bottom and lost time replacing it.

It was clear that Hamilton was much more comfortable in large braking zones than his former team-mate George Russell from Mercedes. Mercedes' brake problems were also confirmed by Kimi Antonelli, who blocked the tires several times.

A light rain stopped several times and started again, affecting the results of the day. In changeable conditions, Carlos Sainz did the best at the wheel of a Williams, taking first place with 1:29.348 and completing the most laps.

The final day of the winter tests will be held in Bahrain tomorrow.
