Nils Wittich still doesn't know why he was fired.

Nils Wittich had to step down as FIA race director before last year's Las Vegas Grand Prix, and many wondered what it was all about. Almost immediately, there was talk in the press that Wittich had been fired due to disagreements with the president of the federation, Mohammed bin Sulayem.

Wittich himself remained silent until recently and shared his opinion about that story only now, when he began working with Sky Deutschland as a guest commentator.

"I didn't see any signs that something was wrong with us, or there were any other reasons for personnel changes," Wittich said during one of the broadcasts. – In general, in this sense, everything that happened was a complete surprise. And it remains so to this day.

No one could give an answer as to why I was asked to leave my post. So far, the reason for that decision has not been named. The last time I spoke with the FIA president was last year in China, so I can't say that we had any disagreements or bad relations. I had very little contact with him."
