Verstappen and McLaren nominated for Laureus Award
Max Verstappen and the McLaren team have been nominated for the prestigious Laureus World Sports Awards, awarded to the best athletes and teams at the end of the year. This is the fourth nomination in a row for Max, who was awarded the award in 2022.
This time, the four-time world champion will compete for the title of "Best Athlete of 2024" with pole vaulter Armand Duplantis, cyclist Tadey Pogachar, tennis player Carlos Alcaraz and swimmer Leon Marchand.
McLaren's rivals in the "Best Sports Team" nomination were the Real Madrid football club, the Spanish men's national football team, the Barcelona women's football club, the Boston Celtics basketball club and the USA men's national basketball team.
The winners of the award will be announced on April 21 in Madrid.
