Pirelli named the line-ups for the first races of the season

Pirelli has named tire compositions for the first stages of the 2025 season – the Australian Grand Prix, the Chinese Grand Prix, the Japanese Grand Prix, the Bahrain Grand Prix and the Saudi Grand Prix.

In 2025, the range of Pirelli slicks increased from five to six compositions – the softest C6 was added to the standard C1, C2, C3, C4 and C5. At the first stage of the season in Melbourne, the teams will receive C3, C4 and C5 squads, in China – C2, C3 and C4, and in Japan and Bahrain – C1, C2 and C3.

The choice of tyres in the first four races is similar to last year's. However, at the stage in Saudi Arabia, the teams will receive slicks one step softer – C3, C4 and C5.

"Based on our experience from last year and the information gathered during the development of the new compounds, when choosing tires, we wanted to give teams and drivers more opportunities to choose their strategy options," explained Mario Isola, head of Pirelli's racing division, tire selection for the Jeddah race. – In 2024, 18 of the 20 riders started on Medium (C3), and after the safety car on lap 7, 14 of them immediately switched to Hard tires, which they used to reach the finish line. The softer lineups this year will contribute to a greater variety of one and two pit stop strategies."
