F2: Mini was stripped of pole position, which went to Martin
Gabriele Mini showed the best time in Formula 2 qualifying in Melbourne, but after the session he was called to the stewards for interfering with Jack Crawford on the track.
The episode that came to the attention of the judges occurred at the 4th turn of the lap at the end of qualifying, and during the proceedings, the stewards heard from representatives of both teams - Prema, for which Mini stands, and DAMS, with which the American racer collaborates for the second season.
After reviewing all available evidence, including video recordings and telemetry, the stewards issued a verdict: Mini interfered with Crawford on the track, although this could have been avoided, therefore, violated Article 31.6 of the Formula 2 Sports Code.
During this time, the Mini will lose three places at the start in both races of the weekend, and Victor Martin, who showed the second result today, will inherit the pole position. Richard Fershor, MP Motorsport driver, will also move to the front row. The Dutch driver was fourth, but will move up to second position due to the penalty previously received by Crawford.
