Formula 1 mourns Eddie Jordan

Racers, team leaders, journalists and many others reacted with sadness to the sad news of the death of the legendary Eddie Jordan.…

Christian Horner, head of Red Bull Racing: "We are all saddened that Eddie Jordan has passed away. He was a very colorful character that I first met in 1991, as a young driver at his then-new base after his first year in Formula 1. He told me, "Find a good sponsor... Welcome to the Piranha Club!

We also crossed paths later, he was in the twilight of his racing career in Formula 1 (moreover, he even tried to sell his team to me!), but he got involved in media activities, where he was always full of energy – it was fun to work with him.

Formula 1 has lost a legend, and we will miss his wit and Irish charm. On behalf of Oracle Red Bull Racing, we extend our sincere condolences to Marie and the children. Our thoughts are with them at this sad time."

McLaren: "We are saddened to learn of the passing of Eddie Jordan. He is a true legend of the sport. His passion and contribution to Formula 1 have left an incredible mark. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time. Rest in peace, Eddie."

Mercedes: "We are deeply saddened by the passing of Eddie Jordan, a true legend of Formula 1, who greatly influenced the development of our sport and shaped its modern look. All our thoughts are with his family and with everyone who had the honor to know him intimately."

Martin Brandl: "Rest in peace, my friend. My condolences to everyone and everyone in your wonderful family. That was the character – a real rock star! What was the racer like… A lot of racers are indebted to you, you gave us a chance to prove ourselves and believed in us..."

Lawrence Stroll, team owner: "Eddie Jordan was a real racer, a great leader and one of the biggest characters in our sport. He was my friend, whom I had known for over thirty years, and I will miss him very much."

Adam Cooper, journalist: "It is very sad to learn that Eddie Jordan lost his courageous battle with cancer. A truly wonderful and unique man, he had a huge impact on Formula 1. The name has changed, but the AstonMartinF1 team is his legacy, thanks in part to his role in bringing in Adrian Newey."

Haas F1: "We join the entire motorsport community in mourning the passing of Eddie Jordan, but it should be noted that he lived a bright life in Formula 1. Our thoughts are with Eddie's family and friends at this difficult time."

Flavio Briatore: "I am deeply saddened by the passing of Eddie Jordan, a wonderful man who has consistently brought smiles to the entire Formula 1 paddock for several decades.

I have fond memories of the time we spent together on and off the racing tracks; the whole Formula 1 world will miss Eddie very much.

My thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time."

Williams: "Everyone at Williams Racing is deeply saddened by the news of Eddie Jordan's passing. He can be called a true icon of motorsport; Eddie's charm and passionate love for Formula 1 have left an indelible mark.

When he was the owner of Jordan, he raised several great drivers and courageously led an independent team during the golden era of our sport. When he became a television expert and commentator, no one could compare with him in terms of energy and depth of knowledge of the material, which is why the public loved him so much.

Our thoughts and our love are with his family, friends and the entire Formula 1 community right now. He will be missed by everyone."

Jacques Villeneuve: "The news of Eddie's death deeply saddened me. He was an incredibly interesting person who changed the development of our sport for the better.

He was an amazing independent team leader who had to work among the giants of Formula 1.

Rest in peace, Eddie! All my thoughts are with your family and friends right now."

Rubens Barrichello: "A good man is gone. He was the first one who gave me a chance in Formula 1, he knew how to approach everyone, and everyone loved him.

I remember how happy he was when I won pole for the first time driving a Jordan (at Spa in 1994) and when I reached the podium for the first time (in the same year at the Japanese circuit in Aida).

I cherish so many of our shared memories, my dear friend... thank you for everything you did for Formula 1, as well as for what you did for me when I was racing in F3 and F3000, how you took care of me. Thank you, Eddie, I will miss you very much..."

Ferrari: "Everyone at the Ferrari team is saddened by the news of the passing of Eddie Jordan. Whether he was running a racing team or being a TV expert, he brought real excitement and vibrant colors to the Formula 1 paddock.

Behind his charming appearance, behind his smiles and jokes, there was a very smart businessman and a rival to be wary of. This is a very big loss for everyone in our sport. We express our most sincere condolences to his loved ones."
