Max Verstappen’s father has accused McLaren CEO Zak Brown of attempting to "stir sh*t". In a recent interview with the London Telegraph, Brown expressed his belief that the four-time world champion will depart Red Bull at the conclusion of the season. "Most likely to Merc,” he stated, referring to Mercedes. “There have also been discussions about Aston Martin, particularly with Adrian Newey coming on board. If I were to place a bet, I’d go with Merc. Over the past decade, they've secured the championship seven or eight times. They possess stability. We know Toto has a positive view of him. And I think we all agree that HPP is the best-prepared for the power unit aspect with the upcoming engine regulations next year," Brown continued.
On an Instagram post commenting on Brown’s remarks, Jos Verstappen joked, "He only is trying to stir sh*t." Brown also recently mentioned that he has contacted Verstappen’s management team to "explore the market," adding that he frequently talks with most drivers as well. However, it is evident that there is animosity between Brown and Red Bull, with team principal Christian Horner labeling the McLaren CEO a "pr*ck" in the latest episode of Drive To Survive. Brown told the Telegraph that the tension is "genuine." "There’s no love lost there. I don’t appreciate how he operates, and he likely feels the same way about me," he acknowledged. “But it’s beneficial for the sport. Different characters are essential. Rivalries are needed. Some are friendly, sporting rivalries, while others are more intense. It has always been this way."
