Fernando Alonso: Not our best qualification
The Aston Martin drivers did not qualify for the final, but Fernando Alonso sees the positive in the fact that he was only a couple of tenths short of reaching the third session.
Fernando Alonso (13th): "It wasn't our best qualifying, and we were only one tenth short of reaching the final. On the way out of the pits, we were hampered by traffic difficulties, but everyone was on an equal footing.
During the break between the sprint and qualifying, we made a number of adjustments to the settings, hoping that this would help solve the problem of rubber degradation in tomorrow's race, but today it did not allow us to achieve any advantage.
However, let's see if these changes work tomorrow. I still hope that on Sunday there will be an opportunity to push forward, so we will try to earn some points."
Lance Stroll (14th): "We did a good job to get through to the second part of qualifying – we're about at the level we expected to be at. I used the experience gained during the sprint and tried to keep the track in front of me clear during my attempts.
But the task was definitely complicated by working with rubber – however, everyone had to solve the same problems. We'll keep pushing to get the most out of the car tomorrow."
