The FIA is satisfied with the rigidity of the wings

The FIA has been fighting for several years against the flexibility of the aerodynamic elements that are not allowed by the rules. Another step towards solving this issue was taken in China, where stricter load tests were added to video monitoring.

Almost half of the teams had to make changes to the design of the rear wing in response to the new technical directive, which had almost no effect on the balance of power and satisfied the federation. FIA Director of Single-seater Racing Nicholas Tombasis summed up the results…

Nicholas Tombasis: "I hope that the measures taken will be sufficient. The cars of four or five teams did not meet the new requirements, they had to make adjustments. There are no questions right now, but we will continue to use the cameras.

We combine the results of stress tests and camera data to ensure that we don't miss any tricks. The cameras alone are not enough to attract the attention of the stewards.

At the moment, the FIA is satisfied with the teams' approach to preventing rear wing flexibility. But we understand that teams are always trying to get the most out of their cars, and we must remain vigilant.

We believe that a car that passes the FIA tests is generally legal, as long as it does not have hidden mechanisms or things based on non-linear properties of materials, temperature and other similar factors. In these cases, we intervene."
