"Checo doesn’t need to return to racing"

Sergio Perez "no longer felt at ease" with Red Bull, but there remains a possibility for him to return to Formula 1. This assertion comes from Jimmy Morales, the leader of the Carlos Slim-founded sponsorship initiative Escuderia Telmex Telcel, which played a significant role in supporting the Mexican driver's career. After the team replaced him with Liam Lawson, brands linked to Telmex have disappeared from Red Bull's branding—though 'Claro' has recently made a comeback on the Audi-owned Sauber car. Morales, along with Perez’s father Antonio Perez Garibay, hints at a possible return to F1.

"Checo doesn’t need to return to racing - he’s already achieved what he set out to in his career," he stated on the Formula de 2 podcast. "But should he choose to come back, it will be because he wants to and has the drive for success." Morales elaborates that by the time Red Bull finalized their separation from Perez, aged 35, there were no available race seats remaining. "We’re always attempting to negotiate, but the truth is we were caught at the very end," he admitted.

Nonetheless, Morales indicates that Perez was already feeling uncomfortable at Red Bull. "There are many conflicting interests," he noted. "Whether it's fair or not, there were internal pressures, the Red Bull board—too many factors, and our driver no longer felt at ease there. He began to question, 'If they are going to give me a car to fight for last place, what’s the purpose?'"
