Ferrari is set to launch a new floor design at Suzuka.
Ferrari aims to recalibrate its inconsistent 2025 Formula 1 season next weekend in Japan. As per reliable Italian media reports, the team based in Maranello intends to unveil a new floor for their car after a particularly turbulent weekend in China. Lewis Hamilton secured victory in the Shanghai sprint from pole position, but their pace diminished as the broadcast, directed by Formula One Management, focused on an alleged order for the seven-time world champion to relinquish his place to Charles Leclerc. Team principal Frederic Vasseur labeled this a "joke," accusing FOM of intentionally excluding the part of the radio communication that showed Hamilton actually proposed the swap. An FOM representative asserted, "We had absolutely no intention of spreading false information," emphasizing that failing to include the entire exchange "was not done intentionally." Following the race, both drivers in red cars faced disqualification—Leclerc for being underweight and Hamilton’s teammate for having an unlawfully worn plank. However, the Italian media is primarily concerned with performance. La Repubblica's headline read "SOS Ferrari," and journalist Alessandra Retico stated, "There’s no time to lose. The new floor will already be in Japan." Similarly, La Stampa’s Jacopo D’Orsi remarked, "Maranello appears to have opted for a recovery strategy, with a new floor configuration potentially debuting at the upcoming Suzuka race." Red Bull advisor Dr. Helmut Marko is not willing to discount Ferrari. "They’ll find a solution," he told Osterreich newspaper. "I’m not giving up on Ferrari yet." La Gazzetta dello Sport’s technical writer Paolo Filisetti agrees: "The project remains in its early stages, but there is promise. Plans are underway for the floor to better manage ride heights." In addition to the controversial team order, there was also the initial collision between Hamilton and Leclerc. However, Vasseur expressed no concerns. "The cooperation between the two drivers has been excellent, and I have no complaints about that," the Frenchman stated.
