Ecclestone: Montezemolo is terribly upset about Ferrari

According to Bernie Ecclestone, former Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo was shocked by the double disqualification that ended the Chinese Grand Prix for the Italian team.

The two Formula 1 veterans met last Saturday in London at celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Eric Clapton, the legendary British guitarist.

"I met Luca there, and he was terribly upset about the double disqualification in China," the Swiss newspaper Blick quoted the former head of Formula 1 management as saying. – In the entire history of the World Cup, Italy has never known such a disgrace. Clearly, the team did not check the cars thoroughly enough after qualifying. After all, the rule that the underweight of a car is followed by harsh sanctions is as old as the world.

Moreover, after crossing the finish line, it's enough if the car drives over a dirty shoulder or gravel trap to get as many stones stuck on the tires as possible."

However, during the broadcast of the race, it was clear that the drivers, including Charles Leclair, tried to pull over on the sidelines on the return lap, but this probably did not help Ferrari.

Frederic Wasser, the head of the Scuderia, commenting on the deplorable results of the Chinese stage, explained Leclair's disqualification by a whole range of reasons and circumstances – excessive wear of the rubber due to the tactics of a single pit stop, a broken end plate of the front wing, as well as the loss of a whole liter of liquid from the drinking water supply system.

On Sunday, Bernie Ecclestone and his family flew to Brazil to visit his wife's coffee farm.
