Kimi Raikkonen's name is being illegally used by scammers
Kimi Raikkonen is very upset that his good name is being illegally exploited by fraudsters, said Sami Visa, who for many years served as the manager and press secretary of the 2007 world champion and still represents his interests.
According to Vis, there are more frequent cases when certain messages appear on social networks where Kimi's name is included in the title and accompanied by his photo, but the message itself may, for example, contain offers to invest in cryptocurrency and promises of unrealistically high incomes.
"Unfortunately, there are such cases, and all this is really frustrating," the Ilta-Sanomat tabloid quotes Sami Vis. In particular, he gave an example when a fraudulent message was disguised as an article from a popular Finnish newspaper.
Anyone who clicked on such a link got to a certain page that looked like the official website of the newspaper, and it contained fake news that Kimi Raikkonen allegedly earns millions in cryptocurrency and gave tips on how to follow his example.
Of course, Raikkonen's representative called this a complete lie and outright fraud, and also stated that the lawyers of the former racer had already submitted their legitimate claims to the administration of social networks.
"Examples of such fraud appear regularly," Visa continued. – The names of many other well-known people in Finland are also exploited in a similar way, and nothing can be done about it, because new scammers and new ways of fraud are constantly appearing.
There have already been a lot of appeals to the police on similar occasions, but it seems that this does not lead to anything. All this is very frustrating, but it is very difficult to find justice for scammers. Therefore, we warn everyone: be careful! Kimi Raikkonen has never participated and does not participate in cryptocurrency-related advertising. The same applies to Mintta Raikkonen, his wife."
Since scammers mainly use archival photos of the former driver, Visa also warned that Kimi had never appeared anywhere in the uniform of his former teams after his career in Formula 1 ended.
