New soft composition of C6 slicks debuts in Imola

Pirelli has named the tire compositions for the Miami Grand Prix and the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. At both stages, tire manufacturers will bring trains one step softer than last year.

In 2025, the Pirelli slick range has increased from five to six compositions – the softest C6 has been added to the standard C1, C2, C3, C4 and C5. At the sixth stage of the season in Miami, teams will receive C3, C4 and C5 compositions, and at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, a new composition will debut within the softest C4 lineup., C5 and C6.

"When we started planning the production and supply of tires for the first races of the season, we tried to test all the new line-ups, since the first races take place on tracks with different characteristics," explains Mario Isola, head of Pirelli's racing division. – This helps us to collect more useful data as soon as possible in order to make a choice of tires for the second half of the season.

In 2025, we have a wider choice compared to last year. The difference between the formulations is more noticeable in terms of speed, and the formulations are subject to less overheating and granulation. It also allows us to experiment with new solutions, making choices that allow us to expand our strategy options in terms of the choice of lineups and the number of pit stops.

We are well aware that the teams and drivers have become very adept at controlling tire wear, which allows them to achieve the best possible result in the race. We got further confirmation of this last Sunday in Suzuka, where even in a race that wasn't particularly exciting in terms of track action, everyone said they were happy to have the opportunity to continuously improve lap times until the very end of each segment.

However, we must balance this with the desire of all stakeholders in our sport to create conditions for unpredictable and spectacular racing. Tires and their behavior are an important part of this plan, and we, as a Formula 1 partner, want to be proactive in this regard."
