Tsunoda was warned, Williams was fined

The stewards reviewed Yuki Tsunoda's actions in the first practice session of the Bahrain Grand Prix, when the Red Bull Racing driver overtook Alex Elbon in the pit lane.

During practice, the mechanics released Alex Elbon from the pits into the pit lane in front of Tsunoda, and Yuki overtook the Williams driver on the right. He explained to the stewards that he had decided to overtake Elbon because he was afraid that if he started to slow down, he might block the wheels and crash into Alex.

The stewards took Tsunoda's explanation into account, but noted in their decision that the release of the Elbon could not be considered "unsafe," so the Red Bull Racing driver needed to slow down rather than overtake on the right. For this violation, Yuki received his first race warning of the season.

Williams was fined 7,500 euros for the fact that the team did not warn Alex Albon about the approach of Luke Browning – he could not see his opponent from the cockpit due to the profile of the track and shifted to the side, which almost led to a collision.
