Hamilton 'thrilled and relieved' about the new Ferrari floor.
"I know how to get to where I want to be."
The decision has been finalized - Ferrari’s car for 2025 will introduce a new floor during the Bahrain race. The team from Maranello left Suzuka last Sunday feeling disheartened as the SF-25 continued to lag behind competitors McLaren, Red Bull, and Mercedes. "I think everyone anticipated a bit more from Ferrari," stated championship leader Lando Norris in Bahrain. "I also believe they had higher expectations for themselves."
It had been known for several days that a new floor was ready for a Bahrain debut - possibly even earlier - but senior team members were worried that an early implementation could be detrimental rather than beneficial. "The new floor is here," remarked seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, "and I’m very relieved and excited."
There are indications that the floor issue was impacting Hamilton more adversely than his teammate Charles Leclerc, and there have also been reports of significant internal frustration among both drivers. "I don’t give weight to the rumors circulating on social media, whether positive or negative," Hamilton asserted. "I know how to get to where I want to be, how to collaborate with others, and how to enhance my performance each day. I don’t worry about things beyond my control."
Regarding Leclerc, a rumor emerged after Suzuka suggesting that he had lost his temper and informed his engineers that he would diverge from a Hamilton-like setup to "forge my own path." "I don’t comprehend how these rumors originate," the Monegasque commented in Bahrain. "There was nothing negative in my statements. It’s simply a direction that I find intriguing to pursue and I intend to keep pushing in that area. We are all here to optimize the car's potential, and if I feel comfortable adjusting the car's setup, then that’s beneficial for everyone," Leclerc added.
A notable and uncommon figure in Bahrain will be former Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo, who has been critical of the team’s recent lack of success in the past few years. "I hope to bring some luck to Ferrari, which is in great need of it," the 77-year-old, a guest of Bahrain’s Crown Prince, told the Ansa news agency.
