F3: Rafael Camara wins his second victory of the season
Ferrari Racing Academy member Rafael Camara from the Trident team won Sunday's Formula 3 race in Bahrain. Callum Voisin from Rodin Motorsport and Tim Tramnitz from MP Motorsport, a member of the Red Bull youth program, joined him on the podium.
Kamara, the leader of the individual standings, started from pole position, as he did at the first stage of the season in Melbourne. But Voisin, the holder of the second position, moved much better. The leaders drove side by side through the first corner, at the exit of which Callum found himself on a more favorable trajectory and became the race leader.
Charlie Wurz retained third place, Christian Ho – fourth, and Tuukka Taponen moved up to fifth place. Freddie Slater, who finished second on Saturday, had a bad start and dropped back to the top ten.
In the first corner of the second round of twenty-two, Matias Zagazeta, Ivan Dominguez and Santiago Ramos collided. All three were able to continue the race, but were forced to enter the pit lane to replace the damaged fenders. Taponen moved up to fourth place, overtaking Ho.
A lap later, Camara attacked Voisin and returned to first place in the first corner. The Rodin Motorsport driver did not retreat, counterattacked at the fifth corner and took the lead. On lap five, Kamara made another attack attempt in the first corner and rose back to first place. Noah Stromsted overtook Ho in the fight for fifth place.
On lap six, in the first corner, Taponen tried to attack Wurz in the first corner, but Charlie fought off the attack. However, on the next lap, the attack from Tuukka ended in success, and the ART rider rose to third place.
On the eighth lap, Tim Tramnitz made a mistake at the exit of the second corner, which was taken advantage of by the sprint winner Nikola Tsolov and came out in seventh place. On the next lap, Tsolov regained another position, overtaking Christian Ho in the second sector.
By the middle of the race, Camara, who scored the best lap, brought the gap from Voisin to two seconds. In turn, Kallum was three ahead of Taponen, who was closely followed by Wurz.
On lap twelve, Tim Tramnitz overtook Tsolov and Stromsted for fifth place at the exit of turn four. On the next lap, Stromsted lost another position, passing Tsolov.
On lap 17, Tramnitz attacked Charlie Wurz and took the lead into fourth position at the exit of turn four. On lap nineteen, Wurtz was overtaken by Tsolov at the exit of turn one, and Tramnitz passed Taponen at the exit of turn four in the fight for third place.
On lap twenty-one, Wurz lost two more positions after being overtaken by Stromsted in the first corner and Alessandro Giusti in the fourth. On the last lap, Wurz dropped back to eleventh place, as his tires stopped holding the track, and he could no longer defend with full force.
Rafael Camara confidently led the race to his second victory of the season and consolidated his lead in the individual standings. Callum Voisin's second place and Tim Tramnitz's third were their best results in 2025.
The third stage of the Formula 3 season will be held in Imola from May 16 to 18.
