Fernando Alonso: No tricks will help in Bahrain

In Bahrain, Fernando Alonso will start from 13th position, which roughly corresponds to the previous qualifying results of the Spanish Aston Martin racer at the previous stages of the season. But the two-time world champion admitted that he will have to solve very difficult tasks in today's Grand Prix, since the AMR25 car is not fast enough.

"We knew that we were on the verge and we weren't sure if we could get out of the first qualifying session, so we used all available resources for this," Fernando said in an interview with DAZN F1. "Fortunately, one of our cars made it to the second session, but we didn't have any fresh ones left. sets of soft rubber. In any case, we figured that the 14th position was the maximum we could count on.

After Hulkenberg's result was canceled, we moved up to 13th, and I think Sunday's race will be a long one, because in reality our car has a poor pace, and this position is too good for us.

In any case, my task is to get to the finish line and try to earn points – the starting position allows me to count on it. But it will only work if we have the pace, whereas we are not showing it this weekend. Let's hope that the picture will change for the better at the Grand Prix, although we need to prepare for a tough race. It is important to maintain maximum concentration, because we cannot afford any mistakes.

We'll have to take care of the tires, develop good tactics, and make good pit stops. At the same time, we have two sets of Medium tires in stock, which other teams probably don't have. However, we can say that this is our only advantage, and we are going to take advantage of it.

It's clear that we don't have enough pace, but the team continues to work regardless of time, even though everyone has to work in extreme heat this weekend. We don't pretend to have high results, but no one gives up, and we must maintain this fighting spirit throughout the year.…

Hopefully we'll have a faster car next season, and the team needs to be ready for that. But this weekend we will finish in the positions we deserve - no tricks will help in Bahrain. You can overtake here only if you are faster than your rivals, especially since you will have to take care of your tires during the race.

It promises to be very interesting in terms of tactics, but a lot also depends on the riders if we manage to find the right approach to tires. But I repeat, the only difficulty is that we don't have enough pace this weekend..."
