Nico Hulkenberg is disqualified

      The stewards of the Bahrain Grand Prix disqualified Sauber driver Nico Hulkenberg for non-compliance with technical regulations.

      The technical inspection of the Sauber C45 after the race revealed that the control bar under the bottom was worn out more than it should be and did not meet the requirements of the technical regulations. Measurements of the bar on the left and right sides showed that its thickness is 8.4 mm, and in the center – 8.5 mm. According to the technical regulations, the minimum allowable thickness of the control strip along its entire length is 9 mm.

      The stewards applied the standard penalty for such a violation – disqualification. Sauber admitted the mistake.

      After Nico Hulkenberg was eliminated from the race record, Isaac Hajjar, Jack Duane, Fernando Alonso, Liam Lawson, Lance Stroll and Gabriel Bortoleto each regained one position, but these permutations did not affect the points earned, as they occurred outside the top ten.
