Hamilton: I should have done a better job this weekend.
In Bahrain, Ferrari drivers Charles Leclair and Lewis Hamilton finished fourth and fifth. Commenting on the results of the fourth stage of the season, Monegasque said that the speed of the SF-25 could not count on more. His partner said that he continues to look for an approach to work with a new car for himself.
Charles Leclair (4th): "We're just not fast enough – these are the short results. McLaren is much faster, and Mercedes doesn't use tires as much as our car. With Soft tires, we simply would not have been able to drive a sufficient distance.
We didn't have the pace in the race, which was a surprise, and I'm very disappointed. We did everything right, but it only led to the fourth place.
In the first segment, we tried to use an alternative strategy, and in my opinion, it was the right decision. After such a race, I have no regrets, but we need to get more speed out of the car."
Lewis Hamilton (5th): "I've been driving for one team for so long that I'm used to a certain driving style. And when I got behind the wheel of a new car for myself, I had to change the style and settings. For example, I have to use engine braking, which I have never done in previous years.
The brakes are very different. I have Brembos on my car right now, and I've been using Carbon Industries for the last 15 years or so. This car requires a completely different driving style, and I'm still adapting to it. Slowly, but surely, it fits into my head.
I think it's pretty obvious that the settings Charles used all weekend suited him. I lost a lot to him last weekend and this weekend. Before qualifying, I close the gap on him, and then all the settings on my car seem to turn off.
I should have done a better job this weekend. I know that I can do it, and I will do it. I think I've figured out how to pilot this car, and hopefully I'll be able to apply it next week. If I can qualify higher, then the result will be much better, so we'll see."
