Verstappen: Good result, considering all the problems

Max Verstappen's sixth place at the Bahrain Grand Prix is his worst result of the season. After the race, the reigning world champion spoke about his misadventures and came to the conclusion that, taking into account all the problems with the car, he achieved a good result.

His teammate Yuki Tsunoda finished ninth. For the first time since last year's race in Las Vegas, Red Bull Racing scored points with two cars.

Max Verstappen (6th): "The start was not the best, the pace left much to be desired, and in the first stretch the tires started to overheat again.

At the first pit stop, something happened to the warning lights - they continued to burn, and according to the team's protocol, the driver cannot start driving while the signal is on. I just had to wait, and it took a few seconds before we realized there was a problem with the signal.

Then I got stuck in traffic, the Hard tires weren't working – they didn't have enough traction, and they degraded a lot. The second pit stop turned out to be even worse, and after that I dropped back to last place. Considering all the problems that have arisen and the lack of speed, sixth place is a good result. I think we did everything we could. Even if they had given me Medium tyres in the second leg today, I would still have finished sixth.

In the next stage, the degradation of the tires should not be so great, but if you are not working effectively with the tires, then you have problems. Perhaps the route configuration is more suitable for us in Jeddah."

Yuki Tsunoda (9th): "I am happy to have earned my first points for Red Bull Racing. Of course, I have a feeling that I could have done better because I had a good pace. The team could have done better at the pit stops too, although I do not know what exactly happened there.

I'm continuing to learn and I'm grateful to the team for their support. I wouldn't have made such progress without them. I am happy with the points I have earned and I will continue to act in the same spirit, and then the results will come. I have no doubt that I will have more difficult weekends ahead of me, and it will be important how I cope with the difficulties. I have a lot of challenges ahead of me, but I'm ready for them."
