Every year, the teams have to solve two tasks in parallel – to improve the existing car and to develop a new one for the next season. At Red Bull, the task is complicated by lagging behind McLaren and a change in regulations – one of the projects will eventually have to be sacrificed. Team leader Christian Horner acknowledges the complexity of the situation…
Christian Horner: "Of course, we will refine the existing car based on how the season is shaping up.
The team must evolve. In our business, any stop is a backward movement. And, of course, there is a dilemma with next year's rules – it is important to optimally allocate resources. We inevitably have to participate in the "arms race" and the pursuit of increasing the efficiency of the machine.
During the off-season, we significantly changed some of the characteristics of the car. This gives us a broader base for further development, which will continue until Abu Dhabi in December - a nine–month marathon awaits us."
