Hamilton was not fined
After reviewing the circumstances of the incident in the second practice session, when Lewis Hamilton's car interfered with Alex Albon's car, the stewards left him without consequences.
The stewards listened to the driver of car #44, Lewis Hamilton, the driver of car #23, Alex Elbon, and team representatives, examined GPS data, video, timing, telemetry, and the team radio, and determined that car #44 had interfered with car #23 in Turn 17 during the second practice session.
By agreement with the teams, if the interference during free practice was not such that it could be considered dangerous, no penalty will be imposed for such interference.
During the hearing, the pilot of car #23 said that he was constantly monitoring the car, and although he was prevented, he did not consider the situation dangerous. Earlier, he had seen car #44 in front of him during the turn, but did not expect it to be in the position on the highway in which it found itself, and was forced to take evasive action. Although his immediate reaction at the time of the incident was to declare that it was dangerous, later, after studying the situation, he agreed that this was not the case.
In this regard, no sanctions were imposed.
