Ayo Komatsu: We have a lot to work on.
We had a bad Friday at Haas F1, the car lacked speed and stability…
Ayo Komatsu, Team leader: "A difficult Friday. We had problems in the high-speed first sector, where the car lacked stability and predictability, and the riders did not feel confident.
In the second training session, we tried several settings, found something interesting, and tomorrow we will try to improve.
I think everyone has problems with degradation in hot weather. We have a lot to work on tonight to achieve more on Saturday."
Oliver Berman (16th): "The first training session was not easy. I had the same problems as in training in Bahrain – I didn't have enough confidence on the brakes and I blocked the tires several times.
In the second practice session, we made adjustments, and everything went much better, although the car was not effective enough on Soft tires. We have a lot to work on. It's difficult to assess the balance of power, the results are very tight, but if we put everything together, we'll add immediately."
Esteban Ocon (19th): "It's not the easiest day, but on Friday we collect information and try to improve something. We will look at the results in tomorrow's qualifying. We'll do our best to improve on Saturday, but it's hard to say where we'll be.
On this difficult track, you need to feel confident in every turn, feel like you are one with the car. That's what we're going to work on."
