Jonathan Whitley: I would have done it differently.

Former Red Bull Racing sports director and now Sauber CEO Jonathan Wheatley is surprised that his former team did not immediately order Max Verstappen to return his position to Oscar Piastri in order to avoid a five–second penalty.

Jonathan Wheatley: "In that situation, I would have acted differently. I would recommend doing something differently, that would probably be the best thing.

I don't want anyone to comment on the actions of our team, and I don't want to comment on the actions of others, but I think that in our team we would have acted differently, and, of course, we would have talked about how to act differently.

It was similar to Turn 12 in Texas last year [when Norris did not return position to Verstappen and received a five-second penalty]."
