Leclair: We need to focus on qualifications.

Charles Leclair finished third in Jeddah and believes that the car is not yet capable of achieving more.…

Q: Charles, how would you rate this weekend for Ferrari?Charles Leclair: I have a feeling that we have achieved our maximum this weekend. The car is not capable of more yet. We need to focus on qualifying to start from a higher position.

The balance was not bad in the race. We were surprised by the high pace in the first segment. Everything else was done perfectly. Great strategy, great pit stops – both this year and last season. We did everything we could.

Question: You drove a very long first leg on Medium. Did you have to monitor the condition of the tires?Charles Leclair: Yes, but the car allowed it. There were problems when I was driving behind George – there was a lot of understeer, and I don't like that, but as soon as he turned into the pits, the front of the car seemed to come to life, the car began to behave much better. Later, on a free track, it was very comfortable to pilot it.

Question: Is there enough speed to fight for victories, you just need to start from higher positions?Charles Leclair: We are close in terms of race pace, but whoever drives ahead on a free track has a big advantage. It has always been so. This year it has become even more noticeable, so the importance of the qualification result has increased significantly.

Unfortunately, we've been fighting with the car for two years in qualifying and we can't put everything together. The problem is not always the same. In Jeddah, we lost four tenths in the first three corners, and we were fast for the rest of the lap. And in the race, the first sector was probably the best. We need to figure it out, find the reason and eliminate it as soon as possible, because in the individual standings I'm already 50 points behind the leader, which is a lot. Obviously, we are doing something wrong.

Q: Lando had a great pace at the end of the race. Weren't you afraid that he would get ahead of you? And as for the Ferrari, how competitive do you think the car will be in the rest of the season, especially on European tracks?Charles Leclair: I wasn't worried, but I knew the fight would be intense. Lando is very fast. At one point, I had to go around Bortoleto, I think, and I lost a lot of time, so Lando almost ended up in the DRS zone behind my car, which would have made it harder to keep him behind. But in the last laps he fell behind and stayed around 1.2-1.3 seconds. I was happy to maintain my position and win the first podium of the season for the team.

As for the prospects, we just need a better car. If we start from higher positions, we will have chances. If not, then the fight in the race is too intense to change anything. We need to focus on qualifying.
