Williams admits that a number of FW47 problems cannot be fixed

Williams started the season well and after the first five stages takes 5th place in the Constructors' Cup, although it has more than three times fewer points than Ferrari, which closes the top four teams. But the 25 points earned by Alex Elbon and Carlos Sainz is still more than what Williams had at the end of the entire previous championship.

However, this does not mean that the team does not have difficulties. Although the FW47 has proven to be more efficient than its predecessor, so far the points are mostly earned by Elbon, and in the case of Sainz, the process of adapting the Spanish racer to the features of the technology created in the Grove continues. And one of these features, or rather, a disadvantage, is manifested in slow and medium-speed turns.

Carlos talked about this before the start of the weekend in Saudi Arabia, but declined to comment in detail, saying only that he had to discuss this topic with James Vaulz, the team leader, first.

When Voules spoke to the press during the weekend, he was asked to clarify what his driver meant.

"Some of the characteristics of our car are still not up to the required level," RacingNews365 quotes him as saying. "I don't think we have already achieved the balance that would suit the riders, and in a sense we are in a dead end situation because of certain tools that we are currently using.

But what distinguishes Carlos and Alex is that in the process of understanding the features of the car, they are moving in the same direction – in general, development is proceeding as it should. Problems start when both riders – or at least one of them – use the current situation to distract attention, but this is not our case. Both very clearly indicate the essence of the problems.

I think there are a number of aspects that we can improve on this year. However, there are also those that contradict the direction that we should choose in the process of further development. So, let's return to the question of the problems with the car – what are they related to?

I believe that the balance is not yet at the level it should be, so the drivers are not able to fully unleash the potential of the FW47, and it is not easy to pilot such a car. It seems to me that we can only weaken the impact of this shortcoming, but we will not be able to eliminate it.

I think we have a kind of patch kit that we can put in place right now. This is already a good thing, because we are still working on the root cause of the problems. As for its complete elimination, we must be absolutely sure that we are correcting the very element that needs it. However, I still don't think that in 2025 we will be able to get to the bottom of this problem."
