Ecclestone advises Cadillac to invite Mick Schumacher

The days when the world of motorsport listened very carefully to Bernie Ecclestone's opinions on any issues are long gone, but the press still turns to the former head of Formula 1 management for comments.

There is a lot of talk these days about the possible composition of the new Cadillac F1 team, and various names are being mentioned, in particular Sergio Perez, whose appearance this weekend is expected in the paddock of the Miami circuit. Ecclestone believes that the future team will not lose if they invite Mick Schumacher, the son of the seven-time world champion.

"If Michael were with him now, Mick would still be racing in Formula 1,– Bernie believes. – This choice is supported by the fact that Schumacher's name has more appeal in the United States than in Europe. And Formula 1 could continue to use it."

Franz Tost, former head of the Toro Rosso/AlphaTauri team, agrees with Ecclestone: "I hope it's not too late for Mick to return. In Formula 1, it's easy to forget those who have been away for too long. But Mick still has all the necessary qualities, and with the right approach to preparation, he could be a good choice for Cadillac."

In addition, Mick's professionalism is highly appreciated by his colleagues at the Alpine factory team competing in the World Endurance Racing Championship.

Here, for example, is what Jules Gounon, his partner, said: "Definitely, some of the things that happened to him cannot be called fair. In any case, Mick deserves a lot of respect, at least as an F3 and F2 champion. There aren't many racers who can brag about it. I think he's a top-class professional."

This year, the Alpine Endurance Team, which includes Mick, has already reached the podium at the recent WEC stage in Imola and is now preparing for the 6-hour race in Spa, scheduled for May 10.
