The Mexico City Grand Prix will remain in the championship until 2028.

The contract for the Mexico City Grand Prix, as expected, has been extended until 2028 inclusive, the Formula 1 press service reported.

The stage at the Rodriguez Brothers Circuit in the Mexican capital will remain on the calendar for at least three more seasons. After a long break, this race returned to the championship 10 years ago, first as the national Grand Prix, then it was renamed the Grand Prix of Mexico City and is characterized by a unique atmosphere created by a very temperamental local audience.

This Grand Prix is loved not only by the fans, but also by the teams and the drivers. The stands of the autodrom have been filled to capacity at each of the races held since 2015, and last year a record number of 405,000 people attended the weekend.

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1: "We are very pleased to announce that the Mexico City Grand Prix will remain on our calendar until the 2028 season inclusive.

Formula 1 is about energy, passion and emotions, and every year the fans create a completely unique atmosphere in Mexico City, making this Grand Prix one of the highlights of the championship.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to President Claudia Sheinbaum, Head of Government Clara Brugada, and President of the Mexican National Automobile Federation Alejandro Soberon Curi for their support.

I also want to thank the local promoters and the business community of Mexico City, who share our vision and make this stage so unique. We look forward to continuing this incredibly successful collaboration and look forward to meeting the Mexican fans again."

This year, the Mexican stage of the championship will be held on the last weekend of October.
