Three Ferrari questions to... Paul Wang

Ferrari engineer Paul Wang, who works on software for working with aerodynamics, answered three questions from the team's press service ...

The question is: What are the main features of the Miami circuit, what are its main difficulties?Paul Wang: The Miami highway combines the characteristics of a stationary and temporary urban highway. Everyone who has raced in Miami knows that the main problem here is the weather. There are several difficulties associated with heat and high humidity, including tire temperature control and lack of grip. This race requires high precision from the racers and engineers.

Q: In recent years, the popularity of Formula 1 in the United States has been growing exponentially. As an American working in Formula 1, have you noticed these changes?Paul Wang: Absolutely! The popularity of our sport in the USA has grown enormously. Not so long ago, I was one of the few fans who watched Formula 1 races with a small group of friends. Now, when I'm at home in New York, not a day goes by that I don't see someone in a team jersey.

Thanks to TV series, the growing audience of TV channels, podcasts and three Grand Prix events, America has truly embraced Formula 1. But the energy and support of the American Ferrari fans has always been overwhelming.

Q: What path did you take before joining Ferrari?Paul Wang: It rarely happens that a person born in New York will work in the field of motorsport or even get a driver's license. But after a career in finance, startups, and Silicon Valley technology, I was happy to fulfill my childhood dream. I started working at Ferrari at the end of 2024, creating software for the team. The Miami Grand Prix is my first American stage with Ferrari.
