Report: Perez set to return to F1 with Cadillac in 2026.

"Perez offers experience and sponsorship strength"

The agreement is confirmed, as stated by Europe's largest newspaper - Sergio Perez is set to make his return to Formula 1. This announcement follows Formula 1's recent three-year contract extension with the organizers of the annual Mexican Grand Prix. The 2026-2028 timeline coincides perfectly with strong speculations circulating in the Miami GP paddock regarding the duration of Perez’s new contract with Cadillac, which is set to debut next year as the eleventh team in F1.

Just days ago, Carlos Slim, Perez’s main supporter and a member of one of Mexico's wealthiest families, revealed that the 35-year-old was seeking "something that can excite him and that can present a challenge." Currently, Perez, a six-time Grand Prix winner, is in Miami, where he owns a residence, while Cadillac is planning a "red carpet" event on Saturday night, amidst rumors that the livery for their 2026 Formula 1 car may be revealed.

The reputable Bild newspaper in Germany, which has the largest circulation in Europe, confidently reported: "We have learned that the (Cadillac) deal with the Mexican has been finalized for months." Journalist Enrico Ahlig, reporting from Miami, added: "Sergio Perez brings experience and sponsorship strength - precisely what a new factory team requires. During his tenure at Red Bull, he demonstrated that he can win races under the right conditions."
