Norris: The car works well, better than I do.
In the main qualifying of the weekend in Miami, Lando Norris showed the second result, losing to Max Verstappen quite a bit, only 0.065 seconds. But the British McLaren driver made a mistake at Turn 17 and missed pole position for exactly that reason.
Lando Norris (2nd): "Congratulations to Max, especially now he has become a father! Although I hoped it would go slower after that! (laughs)
I'm happy with how things turned out today, and I'm happy with the progress I've made behind the wheel of this car. But Max drove a lap in Max's style, and there's nothing to complain about. Anyway, I'm happy with my result and I'm in a great mood for Sunday's Grand Prix.
There's no point in speculating about what would have happened if it hadn't been for the mistake in turn 17. I didn't do my best attempt, but the main thing was that we had the pace. The car is working well, better than I've been working on the last few weekends. I still can't put it all together, but that's how it turned out.
Let's see what we can do at the start of tomorrow's race before turn 1. It will be dry or it will rain – I personally will be satisfied with any option, although the weather in Miami this year is surprising. But I'm ready for any eventuality."
Oscar Piastri (4th): "I'm a little out of rhythm. I completed my best qualifying lap on my first attempt in the second session, meaning I peaked a little earlier than I needed to.
I couldn't find the right rhythm in the final, even though the car made a great impression and we deserved more, but I drove both laps pretty sloppily in the final session. You have to pay for it.
In tomorrow's race, the results in the leadership group promise to be solid. We saw how intense the fight was in qualifying, and it won't be easy to get ahead. In any case, I will try to earn as many points as possible.
It's still too early to think about winning the championship, so I'll just try to win back as many positions as I can, and for now I'm only concerned about tomorrow's Grand Prix."
