George Russell: I had a difficult weekend.
George Russell took the podium in Miami, finishing third. The Mercedes driver said he was pleased with this result after a difficult race weekend.
Kimi Antonelli moved up to second position at the start, but quickly fell back and finished sixth.
George Russell (3rd): "I am very happy to finish third. I had a difficult weekend, during which I was constantly lagging behind. In the end, when it really mattered, I achieved a really good result. Great performance from McLaren – they're on their way.
Is the fight with Max closer to the finish line? I stayed calm because I was comfortable in the car and I had no problem keeping him behind.
I think I really upset Lando Norris today because we had a little collision in the Lego car race!"
Kimi Antonelli (6th): "Unfortunately, we didn't have enough pace today to achieve more. I started well and was second, but the McLaren cars were too fast for us, so we fell behind.
The car behaved well on Medium tyres in the first half of the race, but it was much more difficult on Hard tyres in the second half. Sixth place accurately characterizes our speed. We need to figure out how to get more out of the car.
Overall, I'm happy with how the weekend went. We showed good pace in qualifying, and it was nice to win our first pole in the sprint. I continue to learn how to control the car over the race distance and will definitely improve as the season progresses.
Now I'm looking forward to the next race in Imola, my first home Grand Prix. I'm sure the atmosphere and support will be incredible, and I'm looking forward to it."
