Bottas: Toto Wolff will be happy to see me back in racing.
Valtteri Bottas is among the contenders for a place in the Cadillac factory team, which will make its Formula 1 debut in 2026. The Finnish driver, who is partnering with Mercedes this season, is cautiously assessing his chances of returning to the driving seat, but believes that Mercedes ceo Toto Wolff will not prevent him from signing a contract with another team.
Asked if he thinks Cadillac is the best option for returning to racing, Valtteri said: "I think this season will show. There are a lot of debutants competing now, and in Formula 1 you never know for sure. Some event may provoke changes in the composition of different teams again.
But, of course, this is an interesting option. Obviously, it won't be easy, but if the team has a clear plan, then the project can be really interesting, and my experience will help them. So let's see.
Toto told me that he would like to see me race again. And he agreed with me when I told him that I wasn't done with sports yet, and that my time hadn't come yet. That's why I think he'll be happy if I get back behind the wheel. If it doesn't happen in a Mercedes, then it won't stand in my way."
