Pato O'ward gets behind the wheel at a training session in Mexico City
McLaren has announced that Arrow McLaren IndyCar driver Pato O'ward will participate in the first practice session of the Mexico City Grand Prix for the second year in a row, as part of his commitment as the team's backup driver.
Pato O'ward, McLaren reserve driver: "I am delighted to be back behind the wheel in the first practice session at my home Grand Prix. The fans in Mexico City were incredible last time, and I was happy to fully implement the program the team had put together. I'm looking forward to working with Zach, Andrea and the whole team again this year."
Andrea Stella, Team Principal: "We are pleased to confirm that Pato O'ward will participate in the first free practice session of the Mexico City Grand Prix, having been given the opportunity to drive a MCL39.
Pato made a significant contribution to our work last season and continues to impress in IndyCar, making him the right driver to participate in the first practice session. This will allow Pato to gain additional experience, as he has been part of our pool of reserve pilots for the second year now, to whom we can turn if necessary."
In the near future, the team will announce plans for three more Friday training sessions for young pilots.
