Alpine's F1 team requires 'stability' at this time - de Meo

"We will continue to invest until we discover the right formula."

Alpine’s next team principal will be in position for the long haul, according to Renault CEO Luca de Meo. Last week, the Enstone-based team surprised the Formula 1 community by announcing Oliver Oakes' resignation as team principal, less than a year after his appointment. This continues the trend of frequent changes in the vital leadership role at Renault's F1 team over the past four years, with Cyril Abiteboul, Laurent Rossi, Otmar Szafnauer, and Bruno Famin also having left.

Flavio Briatore, 75, who was appointed as an executive advisor by de Meo in mid-2024, has stepped in temporarily, but Ralf Schumacher argues that the Italian is "too old" to take on the permanent team principal role again. De Meo has now suggested that the next Alpine team boss will be there for the long term.

"We're aiming for stability within this team," he stated to Canal-Plus while attending the MotoGP race at Le Mans on Sunday. "One thing is certain: we will keep investing until we find the right formula for success," de Meo remarked. "Alpine participates in various disciplines, including endurance sports cars. On Saturday, we achieved some promising results at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, giving us great hope for Le Mans.

"There are aspects that succeed and others that do not," de Meo added. "What’s essential is to be persistent and continue working."
