Jonathan Whitley: In Imola, let's evaluate our speed
The Sauber team is in a good mood waiting for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, which will open the European part of the Formula 1 season. Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto are ready to give their best to bring the team a good result.
Jonathan Wheatley, team principal: "The European part of the season starts in Imola, and on this very difficult track we will be able to assess the speed and technical settings. As we saw in the first races of the season, we need to stay stable throughout the weekend: run all sessions cleanly, make no mistakes during pit stops, make smart strategic decisions and give the drivers the best chance to fight for points. We understand our priorities and what needs to be done."
Nico Hulkenberg: "I like Imola because it is a fast, narrow and difficult track. I am glad that the European part of the season opens another structured series of stages.
We've shown good pace at times this season, but now it's all about getting a stable performance throughout the weekend. Every session is important, and we must continue to improve and make the most of every opportunity."
Gabriel Bortoleto: "I've already raced in other racing series at Imola, but driving Formula 1 here is a completely different matter. This is one of my favorite trails, smooth but challenging. Maximum concentration of attention is required here, because every turn matters.
This weekend, I will focus on consolidating my knowledge, staying on the cutting edge of the fight, and finding a few extra tenths. I'm ready to give my best to bring the team a good result."
