"He would quickly find his way back to Formula 1."

Mick Schumacher's uncle believes that the former Haas driver genuinely has a shot at making a return to Formula 1 next year. Mick, the son of F1 icon Michael Schumacher, was present at the recent Miami GP, where several other contenders for Cadillac’s two race seats in 2026 were also in attendance. Additionally, Mick participated in the nearby F1 branding launch for the General Motors-affiliated American team, describing it as "a very exciting topic and an exciting project."

While Sergio Perez, Valtteri Bottas, Guanyu Zhou, and Colton Herta are more prominently connected with the two open seats, Mick’s uncle Ralf is pleased that the 26-year-old is back in the running. "The Cadillac situation is now on the table," he told Sky Deutschland. "Mick’s advantage is that he would quickly find his way back to Formula 1 without requiring extensive testing," added Schumacher, Michael’s younger brother. "He knows the current cars very well."

Mick Schumacher has been serving as Mercedes’ full-time reserve driver in 2023 and 2024, but this year he is fully focused on the world endurance championship with Alpine. Another former F1 driver, Timo Glock, stated, "Mick would definitely be at the top of my list." Ralf believes the current climate in F1—which has already seen driver changes at two teams within the first quarter of the season—indicates that his nephew truly has a chance for a return. "What’s happening in Formula 1 right now is almost unbelievable," he remarked, also mentioning Jack Doohan being replaced at Alpine for at least the next five races by Franco Colapinto.
