Berman: I feel confident, that's a good sign.
Oliver Berman is quite happy with the performance of the Haas car, which has a number of technical innovations installed this weekend, but his team-mate, Esteban Ocon, is clearly doing worse, and the team still has to figure it out.
Oliver Berman (12th): "The day was generally positive. We brought technical innovations to Imola, and during the first training session it was important to find out how they work on a real track, and whether their effectiveness matches the picture obtained on the simulator.
In the second session, we were able to squeeze a little more out of the car, and to be honest, I'm quite happy so far. I felt comfortable driving the VF-25 today, and I'm sure we've improved, so we'll see how things go tomorrow.
But the results are very solid, we are still looking for a compromise between high top speed and downforce levels, and I think this will be discussed at the evening meeting with the engineers. Especially since the wind is expected to change tomorrow.
I can't say for sure what results we'll be capable of in qualifying, but I feel confident, and that's usually a good sign."
Esteban Ocon (20th): "It was a difficult Friday, and now we have a lot to figure out. There were a lot of problems with the behavior of the front of the car, and we have already found out something, but in the evening we need to continue analyzing the telemetry data. Clearly, something is going wrong, and we need to figure it out by tomorrow.
The new C6 soft tires can handle one fast lap, and no one has tested them on long runs yet. There is still a lot to figure out during the race, but there were no difficulties with the tires. In the evening, together with the team, we will solve our problems in order to return to work tomorrow."
