Max Verstappen: McLaren just drove ahead
During Friday's training sessions at Imola, Max Verstappen constantly complained about the behavior of the car. After the second session, in which he clocked fifth time, the Red Bull Racing driver stated that at the moment the RB21's speed does not allow McLaren to impose a fight.
Yuki Tsunoda showed the eighth time in the second practice session.
Max Verstappen (5th): "We tried different solutions during training. Some of them worked, some didn't. At the moment, I don't have very high confidence that we will be able to compete for the first positions.
We still have to work, first of all on the balance of the car to get faster on a fast lap. The same applies to the speed of the machine on a long series. When the McLaren drivers overtook me, they just drove straight ahead. It wasn't easy for us today."
Yuki Tsunoda (8th): "Overall, a positive day. We know our limitations, so it was good to work on a long series of laps and evaluate the new items. But the team still has a lot to do, so we'll try to put it all together on Saturday.
We still have a gap with McLaren, but we will focus on continuing to improve as we need to take a step forward in qualifying."
