Norris is advised to adopt a more low-key approach.

"I haven’t been on social media for a few weeks now."

Lando Norris seems to have genuinely embraced some sound advice. The former leader of the championship, now behind his composed McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, often faces criticism for being open, self-deprecating, and emotional. F1 legend Alain Prost believes this is a significant error.

"Today, everything is revealed, experienced, and known," the 70-year-old mentioned in a recent article for L’Equipe. "Some opt for discretion, which I believe is wise," Prost continued. "The new leader of the championship, Oscar Piastri, hardly speaks at all. He’s naturally reserved, stepping back between races to relieve himself of this stress."

Following substantial backlash for his comments during the Miami race, Lewis Hamilton chose to 'unfollow' all accounts on Instagram. When asked about Hamilton's choice, Norris stated, "Lewis can do what he wants. Good for him."

Norris then shared that he too has significantly pulled back from social media. His last update on Instagram, where he has nearly 10 million followers, was a week ago, and he completely left X almost a year ago. "I haven't been on social media for a few weeks now," the 25-year-old noted. "It’s not something I enjoy. I don't feel the need to be on it. It’s my life, and I can do as I wish," Norris remarked. "I still text my friends, but I consider social media a waste of my time and energy. I'm focused on playing golf, training, and being productive."

However, Norris refutes the idea that, after falling behind Piastri due to reported nervousness and mistakes, he is now over-analyzing his pursuit of the world championship. "I don’t care about it and I won’t dwell on it," he asserted. "Things can easily change. Oscar has performed well, but he’s just another competitor—just another guy in the same colors."

Norris believes it simply comes down to Piastri being a better fit for the current McLaren. "I’m clearly not satisfied with it right now, but we’ll see how things shape up with the upgrades," he stated.

Red Bull advisor Dr. Helmut Marko has indicated that his choice for the internal McLaren battle this season is clearly Piastri. When asked for his view, Mercedes’ Toto Wolff replied, "Before the season, I would have said Norris, given his experience and speed." He mentioned to Osterreich newspaper, "However, I still regard both of them as equal favorites for the world championship."
