Safnauer told the details of the new team's project

We have already written that Otmar Safnauer, who led Racing Point/Aston Martin and Alpine at the time, is creating a new Formula 1 team. In a recent podcast, The Race, Safnauer said that he had already assembled a group of "serious people" who were ready to finance the team, and had enlisted the support of an automaker who wanted to join the project.

Otmar Safnauer: "We have the means. I can tell you that the financing will be provided by serious people who can afford to finance the team. In addition, we have an automaker who wants to join Formula 1.

It's only a matter of time before the twelfth team has the opportunity to make their debut. Or perhaps one of the current teams will be sold in the near future. I understand why no team is being sold now – there is a new Agreement ahead for 2026-2030.

There are currently nine team owners in the championship, and each of them may have their own views on life, on Formula 1, on how long they want to stay in the championship, and what their reasons are. I hope that in the foreseeable future some of them will decide that their time in Formula 1 has come to an end and it is better to sell the team.

I believe that with the resources I have already gathered, I will be able to create a competitive team in a short time. I will be able to hire the right people, and the automaker who will produce the power plant is very competent. The financial support that I have already collected will allow us to build a new wind tunnel, a research department and a base. In fact, it's the same thing that Lawrence Stroll did.

It may take two to three years from the moment the team is created to gather the right people and develop modeling tools, and then become competitive within three to four years.

When I worked for the BAR team, in our second season in 2000, we shared fourth place in terms of points earned with Benetton, even though we started from scratch with three employees. I was the chief operating officer at the time, so I remember what it cost.

I do not know when the window of opportunity for the twelfth team will open, but when it does, I want to be ready. And if it happens relatively soon, then 2028 or 2029 will be quite an achievable time to start racing."
