Franco Colapinto: I'm trying to calm the fans down

After the race weekend at Imola, Yuki Tsunoda was insulted on social media by Franco Colapinto fans.

The reason for the attacks on the Red Bull Racing driver was a small incident in the first Friday practice session, when Colapinto interfered with Tsunoda on the track, after which he was rightly outraged. On Thursday in Monaco, Franco himself said that he was making efforts to calm his angry fans.

Franco Colapinto: "I would also be outraged if someone blocked me the way I blocked Yuki. Therefore, to be honest, he was absolutely right in his dissatisfaction, and I understand him. I think he did the right thing, and it's too bad that he got hated for it.

When I switched to Formula 2, I started receiving a lot of hate on social media. It happens, but we athletes have to focus on what we can control. We cannot influence what is beyond our control – the respectful attitude of people towards each other and their actions.

I do my best to reassure the people I influence, my fans. This work continues. Some of them are very passionate and somewhat aggressive, but that's the reality.

For my part, I'm doing everything I can because I know that many people are under attack, just like me. But when we're on the track, we have to forget about such things and focus on driving."
