Oscar Piastri: I wasn't driving the best way.
Oscar Piastri was one of those who could not avoid difficulties during training on the treacherous Monaco circuit on Friday: in the second session, he made a braking mistake in the first corner, and it all ended with a broken front wing.
But since the suspension of his McLaren was not damaged, the Australian calmly returned to the pits, where the mechanics promptly changed the nose cone, and at the end of the session Oscar showed the 2nd time, losing to Charles Leclair by only 0.038 seconds.
Lando Norris, his team-mate, was fourth, but still his result was already 0.322 seconds worse than Leclair's time.
Oscar Piastri (2nd): "It wasn't easy today, we didn't show very stable results during the day. When it was possible to put everything together, the pace was quite good, but it is still quite difficult to achieve it.
There are a number of issues that still need to be addressed. First of all, this applies to myself, because today I was obviously not working properly on the track. We need to adjust somehow by tomorrow, because the car has the pace.
I think the Ferraris in Monaco look better than they did in the previous stages, but it's not that they improved, it's that I didn't drive the best. So, we need to learn important lessons and draw conclusions, but I think tomorrow will be an interesting day."
Lando Norris (4th): "Driving on this track is always interesting, although it is always fraught with stress. But I'm enjoying it, even though I don't get to do a good lap very often. At the same time, driving feels quite comfortable from the very beginning of training, you just need to keep working and gradually increase.
It is difficult to describe the experience of piloting, because we are talking about nuances, about the fact that you could lose a couple of hundredths on different sections of the track. Sometimes it takes a while to achieve optimal braking, sometimes it takes a turn to get right, but you still need to find an approach to the rubber so that all the sensations are comfortable enough.
It is difficult to give a definite answer here, because there are so many factors."
