Alonso: Engine problems started on lap 15
Fernando Alonso had a high chance of scoring the first points of the season in Monaco, but withdrew from the race due to engine failure. His teammate Lance Stroll finished fifteenth. The Aston Martin team dropped to seventh place in the Constructors' Cup, missing the Racing Bulls.
Lance Stroll (15th): "This is Monaco. When you have a hard Saturday, you know in advance that Sunday will turn into a test. It's always difficult to start from the last positions on this track.
My race wasn't the most exciting, as there were practically no opportunities to gain more positions. We will turn this page and focus on the Barcelona stage next week."
Fernando Alonso (exit): "The engine problems in my car started on lap 15, so I didn't have enough power. I thought I could hold on to the finish line because it's very difficult to overtake on this track, but unfortunately that didn't happen. We missed another great opportunity to earn points.
I'm happy with my performance this weekend. We're going to the next race to get another opportunity to compete."
